The first official recording of Zöblitz mentioned as „Stetechen zcobelin mit dem zcolle“ („little town zcobelin with customs“) dates from 1323. It was later known as the customs place by the „Old Bohemian Track“, which was one of the salt routes leading to Bohemia. It became the administrative centre of the Lauterstein rulers. Today the town and its villages of Ansprung, Sorgau and Grundau can look back on an interesting history that was influenced by the discovery of serpentine in the 15th century. Each part of the town has its own delights, featuring sights or regional traditions waiting to be explored by the tourists.
