Micro-region Nechranicko (CZE)

Nature, surrounding area

The micro-region Nechranicko unites the local villages of Březno, Chbany, Rokle, Libědice and Libočany and the towns of Kadaň and Žatec.

In the midst of that region on the river Ohře (Eger) lies Nechranice reservoir. This is an ideal place for water sports and fishing. Having a length of 3,280 m the poured dike is the longest in Central Europe. Its water surface covers an area of about 3,210 acres. This water work was built from 1961 to 1968, originally for industrial purposes. Now it is developing into an important region for tourists.

Objectives

The villages and towns are interested in developing the region of the Nechranicko reservoir, to foster sightseeing, cycling tourism and other recreational facilities and to make known the sights of the region to a greater public.
